Jam of the Week: Bonobo – Break Apart (ft. Rhye)

The return of electronic downtempo supremo Simon Green, better known as Bonobo, is imminent. His previous albums Black Sands and The North Borders are two of the finest collections of travel music you can find.

Bonobo appears to be continuing in this vein with his forthcoming album Migration. ‘Break Apart’ is a song with plenty of headspace to let your mind wander, whilst maintaining concentration – perfect for work or while you’re out walking, then. Similar to ‘Sæglópur’ by Sigur Rós to mind, quiet drums tap and horn puffs roll as the vocals of LA duo Rhye crow softly. The music video for song, directed by Neil Krug, is a string of beautiful aerial shots of rocky wildlands far from urban life.

Break Apart appears on Migration, released on January 13, 2017, on Ninja Tune.
